2 Baptism Note Card

blank inside w/detachable bookmark. Back of Card has stories about the importance of this Sacrament from the lives of the Saints. Here is just one of them: St. Francis de Sales would often lead his young companions to the parish church and place them round the sacred font where in infancy they had been baptized. "See," he would say, "this is the spot that should be dearer to us than any other, for here it was we were made children of God." Then they would say together the "Glory be to the Father" in thanksgiving for God's mercy, and kissing the font on bended knee, disperse for their games.

3 Blessed Sacrament Note Card

Blank inside w/detachable bookmark. Back of Card: "Come to Me, all you that labor and are burdened, and I will refresh you. Take up My yoke upon you, and learn of Me, because I am meek and humble of heart.: and you shall find rest to your souls. For My yoke is sweet and My burden light." THE RECIPE FOR HAPPINESS The world promises us happiness. It gives us amusements galore! TV, computers, the internet, newspapers, magazines, shopping malls. Yet we have never been so unhappy! how many advertisements do we see for medications promising to relieve our depression? Our anxiety? Our latest woe? The world teaches us happiness is found in ease, in comfort, in doing our own will, in being subject to no one. Yet we are always left empty, unsatisfied... vainly seeking happiness in yet another shopping excursion, or even in the contents of a refrigerator. This is because we are made for God, and ONLY God can satisfy us! As St. Augustine, once a man of the world, says "My heart is restless until it rests in Thee..." Our Lord has given us the recipe for happiness. "Come to Me." He waits patiently for us on the altars in our churches, promising us food and rest for our starving souls. "Unless you eat My Flesh, you do not have life..." John vi:54. Go! Refresh yourselves on the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus! Tell Him your sorrows, your worries. You will not find a more compassionate ear than that of our Crucified Lord. Jesus promises "Yoke yourself to me and you will find rest." How can this be? Is a yoke not an instrument that binds? Yet in the binding, the load is lightened, because the burden is no longer being carried alone. When we yoke ourselves to Jesus, He takes our crosses upon Himself, and they become light. How sweet is such a yoke! Go and see for yourself!

10 First Communion Note Card

Blank inside w/detachable bookmark. Prayers before and after Communion grace the back of this card: My God, help me to make a good Communion. To Thy glory and for the good of my soul I wish to receive the Most Holy Sacrament. Mary, my Mother, pray to Jesus for me. My good angel guardian, lead me to the altar of God. My patron saints, pray for me that I may receive the Lord with a heart that is pleasing to Him and with great profit to my soul. Followed by:Call to mind frequently during the day that you have received Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and say to yourself: “This morning Jesus Christ, the Son of God, condescended to come and dwell within me, and gave Himself to me.” By doing this you will derive greater fruit from your Communion; you will gain more patience under difficulties, and be more careful in keeping the grace of God in your soul; you will more easily acquire true and real devotion; and you will set a good example to others. Remember that your tongue has received Jesus, that it has touched His Sacred Body when you went to Communion. Only recall this thought to mind when you feel tempted to speak impatiently, or so as to offend or injure your neighbor; and surely it will keep you from offending Jesus with that tongue which has been sanctified by the touch of His Sacred Flesh.

For the wish that I could send you goes beyond what I could say; Yet unspoken thoughts rise heavenwards in the silence when we pray. 14 Hail Mary Note Card

Blank Note Card w/detachable bookmark. Back of card reads: What an extraordinary thing is motherhood! The angels themselves have not been blessed with such a grace! Imagine! To share in God’s creation, bringing a child into this world, entirely unique, unlike any other child born before, or any child to be born in the future! Will this child be a Pope that will bring Truth and Peace and Unity to our warring world? Or perhaps a Doctor that will find the cure for cancer and bring relief to millions? Or maybe this child will just be a simple carpenter, another St. Joseph perhaps? How wonderful it is to share in God’s creation and plans for the future! Yet we live in a world that has forgotten this. How many little ones will never see the light of day, because they are viewed not as a miracle, but as an inconvenience? How many children are replaced today by a career? Let us pray for these unborn children, and for their mothers. Let us pray for motherhood to once again be respected as one of the most honorable “careers” a woman can have. A career that could influence generations to come! Thank God for Mothers!

16 Immaculate Heart Note Card

Blank Inside w/detachable bookmark.Back of card: The Hail Mary, Our Lady's Favorite Prayer. The Blessed Virgin herself assured St. Gertrude that this prayer was dearest to her, and that she would assist the saint in death as often as she had said the Hail Mary. The Blessed Jane of France earnestly begged our blessed Lady to make known to her what prayer was most pleasing to her. Mary revealed to her than no prayer was more agreeable to her than the Hail Mary. Blessed Francis of the Servants of Mary, used to say every day 500 Hail Marys in her honor. How pleasing this was to our blessed Lady she made known after his death, for a beautiful lily grew miraculously of his mouth. St. Catherine of Sweden began every work, every duty, with a Hail Mary. In reward for this pious practice, our blessed Lady visited her on her deathbed, and conducted her soul to heaven. Bookmark contains a Consecration Prayer to Our Lady written by St. Francis de Sales.

20 Mary, Queen of Saints Note Card

Blank inside w/detachable bookmark. Back of Card reads: The celebration of birthdays is not the original practice in Catholic homes. It only spread within the last few centuries, replacing the earlier Christian custom of observing the feast day of the Saint whose name was acquired in Baptism. As a parish priest I have often asked children about the Saints whose name they bear. It is tragically sad to see how few of them have any idea who their Patron Saint is. It is not necessary to do away with our customary birthday celebrations, but we should certainly strive to restore this meaningful Catholic tradition. -Fr. Francis X. Weiser, S.J.
